Free Hugs and Raghu Dixit live – Why Saturday is a happy day.

8 Dec

Times are tough. Especially if your name is Kapil Sipal. But even otherwise, things are not all rosy. Rising food prices, unemployment, the rupee depreciating, the West Indian tail wagging a lot, Manchester Utd getting dumped out of the Champions League the list goes on of the things that get us down. We all could really use a hug, can’t we.

Well Anisha Sharma (a.k.a @ghaatidancer) didn’t want to cause a revolution but just wanted spread a bit of joy and happiness when she decided to start a Free Hugs campaign. And thus emerged “GhaatiKiJhappi”. This public relations professional has no agenda for this campaign but in her own words ” she just loves giving hugs”

With a hell lot of followers on Twitter and her own friends and social skills, she has managed to spread the word on Twitter and maybe other parts of the web. But for people who have no idea about this, that is why this post.

This event will be held at Carter Road Promenade on Saturday 10th from 5.30 – 6.30 pm. Just head over there and spread the joy. Gender, age, sex, colour not a discriminating factor. What could be more fun than getting and giving a hug and seeing people smile? Maybe a hug from ghaatidancer herself! So grab your friends and go have some fun and some memories to last for a long time.

And another article from the very cool people at Brown Paper Bag

p.s. Manchester United getting dumped out doesn’t make me unhappy.

The inspiration

Raghu Dixit live at Bandra Fort:

This the second time within 7 days that The Raghu Dixit project will be playin in Bandra. And this time at the Bandra Amphitheatre next to Taj Land’s End. I have written about him previously so won’t tell you guys how much fun it is too see him and his band perform

And this time for company he has Susheela Raman, who in all probability will be playing first. Susheela Raman is a Tamil British Musician who sings in a variety of languages including her mother tongue. Her music is mixes a lot of instruments and influence. Her music blends jazz, carnatic, folk, blues among other genres.

If nothing else you must have heard the song Sunny Leone pole dances to in Bigg Boss. Yup that song was sung by Susheela Raman (Yeh Mera Deewanapan) .

The gig starts at 7 pm and is part of the Mumbai Mirror Youth Festival. You can collect your free passes from the TOI office in Fort or from the one in Andheri East (Trade Avenue, Ground Floor, Suren Road) from 10am – 6pm
