Norman Foster’s Gherkin is the first on the list.Closely resembling the sacred organ of a man it is strategically located in the heart of London city amidst the big-wigs of the financial district. . . . .

It has made quite an impact with it’s characteristic shape on the skyline of London .

Shegeru Ban’s The Curtain Wall House is another example of pulling a fast one on the new rage of curtain wall facades where he has literally substituted curtains for glazing on buildings often called the curtain walls…..ingenious.

CURTAIN WALL IS DRAWN

CURTAIN WALL IS CLOSED

F.L.W stands for Frank Lloyd Wright not falling waters. His famous work-the Falling Waters was supposed to have only a view of the water fall although it landed up ON the water fall.

This is the same house where Angelina Jolie famously took  Brad Pitt to celebrate his birthday privately

I.M Pei’s The Louvre museum Paris, France

The controversy here was that the pyramid of glass seemed to be out of place with the classical renaissance architecture of the Louvre palace. Yet the old and new CONTRAST BEAUTIFULLY which otherwise was expected to BLEND DUTIFULLY.

The Burj-Al –Arab that was supposed to represent the pride and culture of the people of Dubai essentially ,a muslim nation, forms a cross when viewed from the sea.The last I heard was that the architect ,Tom Wright was banned from Dubai.I do not know how far it’s true.

The controversial cross shape when seen from the sea

The 'normal' breathtaking view

Coop-Himmelb(l)eau’s (translates the blue heaven) the Insect Building in Vienna raised several eyebrows for depicting an insect feeding on the historic(presumed to be a rotting carcass) building of Vienna when it was just supposed to be  an extension of an office  on the roof.
