Upcoming Games of 2011 – part 2….

24 Aug

Well you managed to convince me that I should write part 2 to last week’s post and thus the end of the Gaming Triology Series of the month. After extensive research, going back and forth over the names of dozens of games and also combing through a number of trailers I finally decided upon these final five. Though it was difficult AGAIN to leave some out. But hey some have to make the list and thus some are left out. Enough tomfoolery, lets talk GAMES!

Gears of War 3

Gears of War 3!

When Microsoft first announced this XBOX exclusive game, people were not quite ready for what was to come. With its steroids laden dudebro heroes alongwith our very own Marcus Fenix at the helm and the then very new take cover-and-shoot style, it took the gaming industry by storm. Gears of War rather led the way in cover system in games and over the top bosses and also Co-Op mode.

Now with GoW 3 running on Unreal Engine 3.5, you can assured of the stable frame rates across the board of the games and because its Microsoft you can be sure of the high production values.(Ice-T is voicing one of the playable characters, how HOT is that?). With Locust enemies still around, there are new Lambent enemies being introduced in this one. There is plenty of blood to be shed. Also included is the new four player Co-Op mode. Yes four players! With reworked Multiplayer mode and a fine tuned gameplay, you can be sure this one again is going off the shelves in no time. The game already has over one million pre-orders. Time to grab your copy!

Release Date : 20th September, 2011

F1 2011

F1 2011

Even though Formula 1 Racing has always enjoyed undeniable fan following all across the globe it has NEVER been able to translate that amount of success into games. Formula 1 games always seemed rather confused, they either too technical with no real reason or they tried to balance the arcade style too which was when they lost the plot completely. Thus when Codemasters took over the franchise there was excitement and F1 2010 was the best Formula 1 racing game ever.

Now with F1 2011, Codemasters have included a co-op mode in which you and your friend can play as team mates through a full season. Also with a career mode option which takes you through the stages of being a rookie to a pro. With split screen multiplayer promised and the number of online human players taking field increased to 16, they have really raised the bar pretty high. Even KERS and DRS are included also with the option of playing on the inaugural INDIAN GRAND PRIX CIRCUIT. Are you up for it?

Release Date : 23rd September, 2011

Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3!

It’s a Call of Duty Killer. Plain and Simple. DICE has put out all stops in making this one. Going way out to make this game on a completely new engine, Frostbite 2, they have reworked their strategy to include a Single Player Campaign. Battlefield till yet was only known for its Multiplayer Gameplay. Obviously Bad Company had a single player campaign but that’s a different series altogether.

DICE has taken their urban warfare game experience and really upped the ante here. With stellar graphics and visuals, mind blowing sound effects and voice play and amazing gameplay, Battlefield 3 is worth drooling for. The gameplay videos released by EA and DICE really tell what you can expect from this gigantic game. Not to be missed is its co-op gameplay and badass multiplayer options. Phew. JUST CANT WAIT!!!

Release Date : 25th October, 2011

The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim

Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim!

Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion was by far one of the most immersive RPG’s ever. It was voted Game of the Year Critics & Public Opinion on every gaming site. It got accolades for the music, voicing, gameplay, visuals; basically whatever makes a game into a fantastic game. Oblivion itself had over 100+ hours of gameplay, all the side missions included of course.

So now expectations from Skyrim are nothing short of skyhigh. Even though basically gameplay remains the same sans some tweaks, Bethesda Studios have brought in an in-house Engine to render the visuals in stunning which leave short of breath. The events of Skyrim take place some 200 years after Oblivion but with one huge change. In this game players can actually slay DRAGONS! Yes you heard it right! DRAGONS! Hit the play button below!

Release Date : 11th November, 2011

Saints Row : The Third

Saints Row The Third!

Everyone has either played or heard of Grand Theft Auto but what about Saints Row Series? If you have not, its time you did! Saints Row is GTA on dope. It has so much cheese that it will make Dominos go into hiding. Its so over-the-top that it will make our very own Rakhi Sawant seem humble. The only part it sucked was in the visuals department, frame rates being a big issue.

Now with The Third, THQ is back with its over-the-top philosophy and has taken it ahead by leaps and bounds. I actually saw a gameplay video where a car sucks people up shoots them out through a canon mounted on the roof.  Want to hear more? You can paint buildings with poo or beat people up with everything from your bare hands to sex toys. Now with better visuals promised across the board, you know what you have to do next. GO BUY!

Release Date : 15th November, 2011.

Well these are the lucky five in Part 2. I had to leave out some games like CoD : Modern Warfare 3, Forza Motorsport 4, Dead Island just to name a few. I really feel bad about having to leave out DOTA 2! But the release date is not yet declared and i cant be biased. Dont be disappointed, I plan to blackmail one of my friends to write a post just on DOTA 2!  So there you go, the finale! Please do tell me about the ones you think i should have included in the list. My fingers are twitching for some gaming now. Need to get back! Dont you?

Tushar Chhajed has not got much to say this time. Neither is he going to try. tusharchhajed@gmail.com

    Battlefield 3. F1 2011. Fifa 12. Awesomeness!

Been reading news of GTA V coming out next year. Hope that’s out soon.

PS: Tried Dirt 3! this week. Not really a game that would excite a non-fan. The attention to detail is exquisite. The gameplay (Autosave, Career Mode, Flashbacks, Replays) is similar to as seen in F1 2010. Hopefully they have something new in stock for F1 2011.
