Photos from the bike trip to Leh

14 Aug

All the photos have been clicked by Nikhil Bangera(you can see him in one of the pics). These photos are a part of our bike trip to Ladakh. You can see more photos at https://picasaweb.google.com/frozencolour/20110702_Leh# . Nikhil uses a Nikon D40 and drives a Glamour 125

Start of the Manali-Leh highway

Climbed a small hill after Rohtang and it was carpeted with multicolored flowers

The most difficult river crossing came soon after ZingZing Bar. That's fresh glacial melt flooding down and a Spark was stuck in the middle when we reached.

Baralach La - with the snow walls!!

Suraj Tal - immediately after Baralacha La

21 hairpin bends of Gata Loops

The storm finally broke out - it started with a dust storm. We reached the tents at the end of More Plains just as the dust storm started to get threatening

The highest me or my bike has ever been - Tanglang La at 5328 meters. It was unbelievable that my bike made it!

Thiksey Monastery -- around 20 kms before Leh. It is a 12 storey monastery complex

Colourful Leh town from the top of Tsemo

Leh market at night

I had one chocolate which I gave to this guy's friend. I tried explaining to him in Hindi, English, and sign language but he just didn't get it

Camping ground at Baltal - an alternate starting point for the Amarnath yatra

Shikaras at Dal Lake

One of the structures at the Rock Garden in Chandigarh
